About the American Red Cross

On May 21, 1881, Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross (ARC). She said it was the first time I heard “the International Committee of the Red Cross” during his visit to Europe in the wake of “the American Civil War.” Help during this terrible struggle, I realized the need for society to assist in helping the wounded soldiers in the battlefield.

In 1882 and after a lot of heated debate in the feasibility and necessity of the presence of an organization like the bow, the Congress finally ratified the dream in Barton and “American Red Cross” officially born.
