On May 21, 1881, Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross (ARC). She said it was the first time I heard “the International Committee of the Red Cross” during his visit to Europe in the wake of “the American Civil War.” Help during this terrible struggle, I realized the need for society to assist in helping the wounded soldiers in the battlefield.
And this need first began during the “Crimean War” in 1854 in the battlefields of the Crimean peninsula with English nurse named, “Florence Nightingale.” She noticed the men wounded were subjected to appalling conditions, especially unhealthy practices of doctors. Soon you will develop early efforts to “International Committee of the Red Cross.”
Barton believes that the European model will be useful in the United States, and fought for the establishment of the Organization of the day – “the American Red Cross.” Red Cross begins as an organization to help soldiers wounded in the war, aid organization has evolved in many different capacities of care and humanitarian aid.
In 1882 and after a lot of heated debate in the feasibility and necessity of the presence of an organization like the bow, the Congress finally ratified the dream in Barton and “American Red Cross” officially born. Barton, who will lead the organization for 23 years in promoting growth, and the importance of the assistance in its development.

Today bow has a variety of roles with more than 97 million volunteers and arc able to respond to this call and give whatever aid is needed for any type of disaster. They provide medical services and humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief and prevention, classes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR as it is called usually, first aid training and classes available to anyone, and clothing and food during emergencies, and training on disaster preparedness.
Volunteers arc come from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds. Regardless of where one comes volunteers from all dedicated to one purpose, and that is to help others in times of need.
